Allowing Your Self

Today was an opportunity to allow my perfectionism free expression: I helped a friend put up a curtain rail and curtains. This simple job, excellently executed, brought about big a change in his house.

I enjoyed the afternoon’s work.  I was conscious of my need for perfection. I thought of the last sentence from the previous entry: perfection is my expertise… I allowed it to express itself and I didn’t let it frustrate or annoy me, as it can sometimes do. Neither did I scold myself for wanting things to be perfect.

As is usually the case: give permission for something to happen and the intensity of the desire falls away.  The work was a lesson in how to relax with who I am, to realise the nature of my being, allow it to express itself, allow it to play. And to have some fun.
